ANT STOMPING
Ant Stomping
Me,
Three years old or so
Ant stomping. They moved across the pavement like,
Poured like water from the
Fissure,
Like an
Oil slick
On a bird.
Ant stomping.
Me,
Three.
Feet pound down,
Flail 'round the
Pool of them,
Make
Skid marks with their
Broken bodies.
Three.
Ant stomping.
Never noticed,
Didn't see until,
Couldn't tell,
Wouldn't know until
They'd reached my
Face.
Covered me.
Up legs.
Over body.
Finally,
I screamed.
